A 1902 interior

Le Bistrot du Peintre opened in 1902 on avenue Ledru-Rollin. More than 120 years later, people still come for a coffee at the bar, lunch on the terrace or a bottle with friends.

The house

An owner who joined the house in 1991, a chef at the stove: together they make today's Bistrot du Peintre.

Hervé Bonal, the owner

Hervé Bonal

The owner

Hervé started at Le Bistrot du Peintre as a waiter in 1991. He ran it from 1993 to 1999, then bought it in 2003. He comes from Auvergne, and the menu shows it: ham and dry sausage from Maison Talon, pâté from Maison Mas, Cantal sausage. He also founded Le Vin du Moment, a wine distribution house whose finds are poured at the bistro.

The wine list

95 wines on the list, from a €3.80 glass of vin de France to Corton grand cru. Big names, and plenty of independent winegrowers.

Hervé also founded Le Vin du Moment, a wine distribution house, and its finds are poured at the bistro. The team visits winegrowers at home too, like Cédric Lecareux at Domaine des Capréoles in Beaujolais. His Régnié Chamodère is on the list.
